YET ANOTHER ONE OF MY MOM'S SAYINGS

QUE SERA SERA!!!!

WHAT?!?

Yep that's what she told me!  Que Sera Sera.....huh?  What does that mean mom?  Whenever something happened, that I'm guessing would be trivial to the world, my mom would tell me Que Sera Sera!  And that would be that!

I remember one day when I was very young my mom sprung that one on me when I wanted to go to sleep at a friends house and my dad would not let me.  I was not the type to break into a tantrum, due to my Italian Dad, so I would just mope around the house.  My mom asked what was the matter and I told her I wasn't quite fond of the answer I got (not so much in those words) but I got my point across.  So she looked me in the eye and started singing "Que Sera Sera, whatever will be will be, the future's not ours to see....Que Sera Sera", yep well you can imagine that that made everything better!  NOT!  (By the way, my mom had a beautiful operatic voice, when she was younger she and my aunt had won a singing talent contest. (just a side note))

This was one of her sayings, but there were times when it was more irritating than not.  It came out of nowhere, and made me extremely frustrated that she just didn't understand.

As time went on and I got more Que Sera's than I had wanted in life, I started to understand, that in my mom's eyes nothing was that bad.  She had lived through enough hard times, that my little trivial times were just not that bad and she wanted me to understand that there was more out there than just my wants, versus my needs.  She was a very smart woman, she lived simply, loved plenty, her home was open to everyone and she loved life.  Now that she's gone, so many of the wonderful simplistic things my mom said and did have stayed with me...I try as hard as I can to stick to her lifestyle, it made my life wonderful!
